A study on the dwelling style of the Gosichon in Korea
-To focus on usage system and life pattern in Noryanggin Gosichon , in Seoul
Abstract
This study aims to clarify the transition process and the dwelling structure of the Gosiwon (quasi housing) in the Gosichon (a Gosiwon dense area), including its historical bac kground.
In the Republic of Korea, the Gosiwon does not have all the functionalities of common housing. For Gosiwon to be considered as housing, it needs facilities surrounding it to support it. A Gosichon does this and provides a variety of facilities to support the Gosiwon .
At present, approximately 6,240 Gosiwons are in Seoul, located mainly in Sillim and Noryanggin.
These areas were also known as the Gosichon.
This is the third phase of the study, and we specify local facilities of a Gosichon . We also i dentify the utilization of these local facilities within a Gosichon through the answers to questionnaires administered to Gosiwon residents.
